The Silverlake Social

If you’ve ever been to Los Angeles, you may have visited an Eastside neighbourhood called Silver Lake. Known for it’s bars, restaurants and music scene, there are no shortage of places where people can gather for good food and drinks in a hub of all things hip and indie. Wanting to capture the essence of this and bring it to Chapel St Prahran were brothers Tom & Nick Welch, owners of the already successful White Oaks Saloon Bar & Dining, together with partner Byron Barrowclough. Here at The Silverlake Social they have created a little bit of Southern California in a tap house focusing on American brews, with a large range in bottles and cans too, plus a cracking list of cocktails, shooters and boilermakers.

Regardless of what you choose to drink, you have to make sure you order some food too. From the totchos to the tostadas, the buffalo wings to the burritos and everything in between, the menu has been seriously considered, with options for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Whether your passion is for NBA or NFL, those of you who like watching sports can catch all the games on one of the TVs over a few rounds of pool, that is if you’re quick enough to grab the table.

This is a celebration of the authentic American local. It’s a place to congregate and keep things casual while enjoying some of the best craft products coming out of the US. It may not be California, but if you want to experience the spirit of Silver Lake and you want somewhere social, this is surely the next best thing.
