There is something so special about whisky. Whether it's from Scotland, Ireland, Japan, Australia or most recently Taiwan, whether it's peated or unpeated, 40% abv or cask strength, there are just so many choices. That being said, there's only one place to try them all and that's Whisky & Alement.
Started by Julian White and Brooke Hayman under the name Chez Regine, the bar morphed into it's current state a few years ago as the shrine to all things whisky. You'll often find one or both of them behind the bar together with James Fairlie and be prepared for an education to go with your selection.
The bar is the inaugural Australian SMWS (Scotch Malt Whisky Society) venue and the only one in Victoria to offer independent SMWS drams to non-members. They also have a licence to sell single malt whisky so you can peruse the glass cabinet containing some very special and rare bottles like a kid in a candy store and take a little bit of Whisky & Alement home with you.
Located at 270 Russell Street across from QV, check out the video first and get your tastebuds tingling in anticipation.
