Here we bring you a sneak peek into Melbourne's iconic Gin Palace. Known as one of this city's first lane way bars, it opened in 1997 thanks to the very savvy and entrepreneurial Vernon Chalker who created a place to meet and drink in a dark and mysterious basement in Russell Place.
Filled with old photos in beautiful frames and comfy leather couches, you feel like you have walked into someone's private den leaving the outside hustle and bustle at street level above. There is a sense of tradition as you are welcomed in and seated with a menu filled with drinks showcasing this bar's exquisite gin collection and then it's your turn to decide what to choose. Be sure to ask the obliging staff for their recommendations and when they tell you to get a serve of their famous chicken sandwiches…….just say yes!!
