Do you remember that feeling you had as a little kid when you discovered something hidden, something new, and it felt so precious. Stepping into Belleville Melbourne is just like that. You wouldn't know it existed unless you looked up and saw the sign gently illuminating Globe Alley. If the unknown is enticing then climbing the stairwell is your next step. It takes you up to a venue whose personality is as big as its space, filled with the smell of their famous Dirty Birds on the rotisserie glazed with miso butter and served with an array of sides. Firstly the front bar where you can grab a beer, wine or spirit of your choice and be a part of the action or head to the back to find the second more intimate bar headed up by Sean Hastings who darts back and forth expertly filling orders for some killer cocktails including their Bloody Mary made with a home made spicy sauce and Fire Drum Vodka, a meal in itself but amazing when paired with the chicken.

Thanks to Curator of Culture, the very accomplished Stéphanie Kabanyana Kanyandekwe, you'll get to hear amazing DJs and musical acts which follow Belleville's theme of fusion and celebrating diversity. If you want a complete night out with great food and drinks and earthy soulful beats these guys give you the trifecta. Pleasing people is in the blood with their other successful venues Section 8, Ferdydurke and THE B.EAST already well known and loved. But in a town filled with bars, Belleville stands alone. Don't be fooled by the cracked and peeling plaster walls of this heritage listed building, there is nothing about this place that is tired or old. Just take note of what we mentioned at the beginning and see Belleville for what it really is, something precious, beautiful and individual - a diamond in the rough.
